On-Site Housing Officer | Permanent | Basildon, Essex (Head Office in Chingford) | £26,000–£28,000 (depending on background)

We are working with a well-established housing provider that delivers lettings, property sales, and temporary accommodation services across London and the Southeast. They work closely with housing associations, local authorities, and private landlords, supporting tenants and ensuring high-quality property management across their portfolio.

We are now looking to recruit an On-Site Housing Officer based in Basildon, Essex. You will act as the main point of contact for tenants and be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of a residential block of flats. This role is ideal for someone with a background in property or tenancy management who is confident managing tenant relationships, coordinating repairs, and maintaining building standards.

You’ll report directly to the Housing Manager based at the Chingford Head Office and will liaise with contractors, engineers, and caretakers to ensure the smooth running of the building and its facilities.

The Basics:

• Full-time, permanent position

• Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:50pm

• Based on-site in Basildon, Essex reporting to the Manager based at Head Office (Chingford)

The Responsibilities:

• Handling queries from tenants regarding maintenance and repairs

• Carrying out daily inspections of the building and communal areas

• Overseeing bookings for new tenants and conducting check-ins

• Inspecting individual flats for condition and compliance

• Managing void properties and organising re-lets

• Coordinating tenant check-outs and necessary follow-up actions

• Liaising with engineers, contractors, and caretakers to arrange repair and maintenance work

The Skills & Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years’ background in a housing, property management, or facilities role

• Knowledge of social housing or private tenancy management preferred

• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

• Confident in identifying and escalating repairs

• Organised, proactive, and able to work independently

• GCSEs or equivalent preferred
